Network Rail Maturity assessment model (2)

This more detailed maturity assessment was developed for teams to self assess the maturity of their process efforts, and identify areas that required improvement to achieve a balanced process capability going forward. The assessment is divided into two different sections, one that deals with the maturity of the process, and the other that looks at the maturity of the business.

Process Maturity Questions:

PQ1: The process is visible
PQ2: The process is documented
PQ3: The process is stable and in control
PQ4: The process has an active owner
PQ5: The process has a history of improvement
PQ6: The process flows
PQ7: The process is linked to supporting resources
PQ8: There is recognition for process performance improvement
PQ9: Process Metrics are in place and being used to review performance
PQ10: IT Systems are being used appropriately to manage information and presentation

Organisation Maturity Questions

WQ1: We have process supportive management
WQ2: We know our customers
WQ3: Our customers rate us as excellent
WQ4: We know our processes
WQ5: Our processes are as good as they can be
WQ6: We run our own process improvement activities
WQ7: We are able to action process improvements
WQ8: Our own suppliers know what we want and what we value
WQ9: We have the encouragement and support of the nominated Process Owner
WQ10: We know wasteful practices when we see them and we are increasingly intolerant of them

Responses from the questionnaires are plotted on a spider diagram to highlight where there are deficiencies which are then discussed and plans agreed to address the key areas for improvement.
